Ideas For Photo Editing With Digital Editing Software

By Janis Becker

Back in the dark ages, before scanners and digital cameras, people who wanted to create artistic effects with their photos had to either rely on photography specialty shops, or creating art around the photo. But now that the abilities to both take digital photos and easily digitize older photos have become widespread, the use of digital photo editing software has taken off.

Editing software often comes with a computer, printer, scanner or camera purchase. Sometimes, a basic version is offered, or a trial version. Some of these can be used forever, they just have fewer features than the paid version, but some are time-limited and can only be used for a period of days or months before they refuse access.

If you don't have any editing software, or the type you have isn't up to the task, you can consider free downloads from the internet. Some of these pieces of free editing software will be quite sufficient for people who only want the more basic features. If you want the fancier features, consider purchasing the software. It doesn't usually cost that much.

Variations occur in what photo editing software is capable of. Some tools are staples that nearly every piece of software will feature, and some are specific to a given program. The ability to move parts of one photo into another and seamlessly merge the two together is a common feature that most pieces of editing software will have.

You can also use photo editing software to create things like holiday cards, or decorative images. The addition of colorful, seasonal borders around a photo that can then be printed as one single image is a popular thing to do around the holidays. Artistic blurring tools and the ability to turn a color photo into a black and white photo are also popular.

If you have a computer, you should have photo editing software. It's a great deal of fun, and can be used in many different manners to increase the creativity of your photos and other artistic endeavors.

Digital Camera Shopping - Buying Tips

By Joanna Quinn

When you start shopping for a camera, there are a few things you should know prior to picking one only because it looked nice.

The ability to take a photo and share it with others is rather a fun and exciting thing to do. I'll explain some of the best features for cameras, below.

Resolution - Your resolution is going to play a big role in whether or not your photos come out clear and sharp. Resolution is measured in pixels. Obviously, the more pixels a camera has, the higher the resolution will be.

Zoom - If you really are looking for a zoom, you'll need to look for optical zoom. Optical zoom will bring an image closer as the lenses adjust. Optical zoom is the real zoom.

On the other hand, digital zoom really isn't a zoom at all. Digital zoom is what you can do on your computer when blow a picture's size up. It doesn't actually "zoom" in. It only makes the pixels larger on the screen.

Lens & CCD Size - Another aspect of taking the most brilliant pictures as possible is the CCD size. Larger CCDs will take more defined photos.

Portable cameras will almost always offer a .25" lens in diameter. These are good for outdoor use when the sun is shining. They usually tend not to do so well indoors.

Almost all mid-range cameras will offer a 1" lens in diameter. These will take really great pictures outside as well as having little problems with pictures indoors.

Larger cameras fall into the SLR range. Their lens size is usually around 1.5" in diameter. These types of cameras can be as easy to use as the point and shoot ones.

They are also designed to take brilliant pictures in almost all conditions and offer custom film and shudder speed. The megapixels may also be higher. These will be the most expensive models.

Capture The Moment, The Fast Nikon D3S Makes It Easy To Shoot Sporting Events With Confidence

By Brad Kyle

Nikon cameras have, over the years, established themselves as precise, versatile units in robust casings with a model to suit every level of photographic enthusiast. The Nikon digital single lens reflex (DSLR) models are among the best. The fast Nikon D3S makes it easy to shoot sporting events with a confidence usually found only in professionals.

The D3 series was introduced in August 2007. The D3S came later, specifically aimed at sports enthusiasts. It is closely matched with the Nikon flagship D3X model. However, the D3S is priced at a discount of about 35% to the D3X and so is more affordable.

The Nikon D3 was its first digital camera with an image sensor sized at 24 mm x 36mm, the same size as 35mm film. Nikon dubbed this sized sensor its FX, meaning full-frame, format. The D3S comes with a CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semi-conductor) 12.1 megapixel image sensor. It produces rich resolution images with an dynamically optimized pixel count and size. Generally, an image sensor is an integral part of the digitization process, converting optical still images into electric signals.

The D3 possesses ISO sensitivity ranging from 200 up to 12800. It is superbly light sensitive. Its high sensitivity to light allows the user to generate very low-noise images. In broad terms, a low ISO (or speed) rating indicates an imaging system requires greater exposure to light to generate an image density the same as that generated at a higher ISO (or speed) rating. Arguably, the higher an ISO rating, the lower the image quality.

Another cool feature of the D3S is its one button live view with two shooting modes. These two modes are suitable for either studio or remote shooting. Its tripod mode provides up to 27x magnification with precise focus confirmation when set-up in the tripod mode, allowing great shots of even the tiniest of tiny subjects.

There is also an accurate, rapid 51 point auto focus system operating in four dynamic modes and 15-cross type sensors. This feature allows high focusing precision and a razor sharpness that has to be seen to be believed.

The Nikon D3S comes fitted with dual CF-card slots. It has intuitive backup, overflow as well as copy options. Battery capacity is capacious, as many as 4,400 shots on a single battery charge.

The D3S is a powerful creation. More masterpiece than machine, it is a pleasure to use. The fast Nikon D3S makes it easy to shoot sporting events and takes the toil out of seizing the moment.

Aerial Photo The Basic Facts

By Graham Webb

Many individuals may never see the view of their property for up in the sky. They may always wonder what their property looks like when they can see it all at the same time. Every couple of years, there are people that are in planes and take an aerial photo of the assorted properties in an area. These photographers are really talented at what they do, and offer stunning photographs for the people that own the property in their photographs.

Whether a person owns a farm, an enormous property, or would like an aerial photo of land they own, they can buy them from photographers who offer the pictures to the general public. Folks who are the owners of farms like to purchase an aerial photo every couple of years so they can see changes in their property and the area around it. New roads may come in, or new buildings could be erected.

Farmers can also order photographs to discover how folk farmed at various times. Machinery could be in the photos. Different sizes of farms may be shown as somebody may build on to a building, or tear down an old one. Someone that has owned a home for 5 years may desire an aerial photo from before they lived on their property, and another to show what it seems like in the present. It can show them how much work they have achieved if they went and did some landscaping, or put up different buildings over time.

They can show people how they developed the land to seem like it's now. It's a way to show pride in the accumulation of land and buildings. Folks can also see photographs from different seasons. It can be quite stunning to have an Aerial Photograph from the Fall when the colours of leaves are changing. Folks always say a picture is worth 1000 words, but some photos can be worth more than this.

An aerial photo is an image that folks can always keep, and look back on over time. They're superb for telling tales about property, and basically showing the picture of what a person's property looked like in that period in time. Folk can also purchase more land as they save up extra cash, so that the limits of a person's property can also change thru the years. It doesn't matter what sort of property somebody owns, an aerial photo can be enjoyed by anybody.

Convert Your Image Gallery Into A PowerPoint Presentation

By Bethany Wilson

PowerPoint presentations are a great way of communicating and influencing your clients, work colleagues or audience. One of the most important components within presentations are images. This article will show you how to take a group of images and turn them, as if by magic, into a PowerPoint presentation.

Naturally, creating a presentation in this way can only be done if the pictures relate very closely to the main content of your presentation. One example might be a presentation given during product training which requires detailed photographs of each product.

To get started you need to bring up the New Presentation task pane. To do this, choose File - New. Next, click on "Photo Album" in the New Presentation task pane window.

Clicking on the Photo Album option displays a window in which you begin by choosing the images required for your presentation. Just click on the button labelled File/Disk and select the images. Alternatively, click on Camera/Scanner and load the images directly from your scanner or digital camera.

Your images are imported and listed in alphabetical order. This is almost certainly not the order in which you want them to appear in your presentation. So the next step is to rearrange them by clicking on the arrow icons to move selected images up or down in the list. You can also remove images from the list by clicking the name of the image and clicking the Remove button.

Is the orientation of any of our images not quite right for this presentation? No problem. Just highlight the image then click on the rotate icon to change it. Not happy with the tonal qualities of an image? No problem. Click on the appropriate button to increase or decrease the contrast or brightness levels.

In addition to the images, you will almost certainly want to add some text on each of the slides. From the drop-down menu marked Picture Layout, you can indicate your preferred slide setup: one, two or four images; with or without a title. There is also a check-box for you to choose whether your titles should be above or below the images.

If you wish, you can also change the shape of your images. This is done in a drop-down menu called Frame Shape. The default shape is rectangular but also available are rounded rectangle, bevelled, oval, corner tabs, square tabs and plaque tabs.

That it; you've finished. When you click OK, PowerPoint will create the presentation generating a separate slide for each image, using the settings that you specified in the Photo Album dialogue. The final touch is to go to each slide and type some text into the title box. Once you've done that, you have yourself a PowerPoint presentation. How painless is that!

How To Buy A Digital Camera That Is User Friendly

By Marianna Bynes

If you are searching for a digital camera that is simple to use, you have come to the right place. Many beginners in photography will find that standard cameras are adequate. These are cameras that can be utilized as simple point and shoot devices. However, it is possible to find such cameras with a few added features that may be useful at the same price. This article will teach you how to buy a digital camera that is simple and easy to use.

Most cameras are created in handy sizes so as to fit the expectations of buyers. They are tastefully designed with metal cover as what most consumers want. If you are in search for a digital camera that is simple to use, then you must know that such cameras often come in small sizes.

Now, no matter what type of camera you are planning to buy, you should really think about how you plan to use the product. For instance, are you thinking of only utilizing your digital camera for certain events such as family gatherings and holidays? In this case, you might want high-quality functions for important shoots, and may not be satisfied with a point and shoot camera that is simply easy to use.

Also, it is possible that you want to take snapshots of every place you go or of your nightly escapades. For these instances, a superb quality camera that delivers excellent images is not that necessary. An ordinary, easy to use digital camera can be sufficient enough.

The simpler your digital camera is, the more likely it is you will use it. Focus on how simple it is to operate because although certain features are important, if they are difficult to use, you may end up not using them at all"that would be quite a waste of money. If youre going to utilize your digital camera a lot then go for rechargeable cameras. Some individuals purchase their digital camera solely on the size of the screen. Others will buy one based on how easy and convenient it is to carry around.

Some individuals are not particularly into photographic equipment that have to be fitted into their digital camera. Fortunately, there are now cameras that no longer have the traditional viewfinder. SLR cameras may not be the best choice if you are looking for a user-friendly digital camera. Look for a digital camera that has an optical zoom that you can adjust simply with the press of a button.

Digital Cameras Best Buys reviews Sony, Samsung and Toshiba

By Angela Sapiana

Toshiba, Sony and Samsung all make digital cameras. Among the digital cameras best buys reviewed on the market, here's my take on where these three digital camera companies stack up. Note: The three digital camera reviews here are on smaller, amateur cameras - as opposed to the professional SLR models.

Samsung has raised the bar with its DIGIMAX S1000 "point-and-shoot" camera. With 10.1 megapixels, photos frames, highlights and color effects, it's one of the easiest and most fun digital cameras on the market. This camera is ideal for the shoot-on-the go person who's interested in high quality photos with little effort.

Toshiba Digital Cameras: Toshiba cameras are traditionally of very good quality, with excellent memory capacity. If you're annoyed each time you run out of memory, get a Toshiba with an SD card and that shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you don't get one of the High Performance SD cards though, the Toshiba can't read those. I would not recommend these cameras for professional work because they lack the sheer power of Sony - they are great amateur cameras.

Sony's DSC-T10 is a great digital camera for digital camera enthusiasts. if you like features like F-stop, outdoor, redeye and photo editing tools, the Sony models could be for you. While not as easy to use as the Toshiba models, and not 10.1 mega-pixel producer like the Samsung, the Sony is a great mid-tier camera. I'd advise it for anyone who loves to e-mail photos, post party photos to Facebook or print 4x6's for scrap books.

Http://www.digital-cameras-best-buys.com is a terrific information-based site for reviews on all things camera. From underwater digital cameras to camera bags and digital cameras best buys, there are few sites that compare.

Digital Camera Buying Guide - Fun Facts About Digital Cameras and Digital Photography

By Jim Howser

The price of a digital camera nowadays has been depreciating. One of the main reasons for this is because of the introduction of CMOS image sensors. This is because CMOS sensors are less expensive and are easier to manufacture than CCD sensors.

Most tape-less models however, only offer the TFT screen to preview your captured video and to view while you make a recording. When you need to get closer to the action, a zoom lens can be a great feature. Don't get swayed by the digital zoom figure however; as no matter how large it may be, you should always base your final decision on the optical zoom.

The optical zoom will give you a true indication of the video image, where digital zooms interpolate the available pixels to zoom in on an image. Optical zooms will normally range around the 10X mark, with digital zooms ranging from 100X and above.

If you're a photo freak, be sure that you have enough memory in your camera to take all the wacky, freaky, funny and just about any photo you can. Think 512MB if you"re a photo junkie and takes pictures of just about anything.

Another feature of the digital camera is a sensor that converts light into electrical charges. A charge coupled device or CCD is an image sensor that is found in a digital camera. While other low-end digital cameras use complimentary metal oxide semiconductor or CMOS as an image device, it is still better and will be used more in the future.

If you are going to be bringing it everywhere, choose a handy and portable digital camera. This way, it won't always feel as heavy and bulky as those cameras that you see professional photographers are always dragging on their neck. Don't they ever get tired of that?!

Compact Digital Cameras Are a Bargain

By Rob Gormly

I love photography and wish I had a better eye for the for the artistic aspect of the perfect picture. I also love digital camera technology and the rapid advances it has seen over the last ten years. When they first came out digital cameras took grainy, low quality pictures. But now, many digital SLR cameras rival 35 millimeter film cameras, and in many aspects they are better. On top of that, the price has plummeted.

I've noticed that about $250 is the break point between mediocre digital cameras and the really good ones. Once you get above $250 you really start getting some great features. Just a few years ago, any camera you could get close to this price ran on cheap batteries and had an optical viewfinder. The pictures were pretty low quality. Today you get a ton of megacycles, rechargeable batteries, high definition video and an LED screen. In fact, today's cell phones have better picture quality than digital cameras had just 10 years ago.

Pretty much, $250 now, can buy you a really intelligent model with 12 mega pixels, HD video capture, and large 3-inch LCDs. Every brand, Panasonic, Canon, Sony's CyberShot and Fuji, all throw in indispensable features like image stabilization, super wide angle lenses, and face recognition. Of course every brand out there has its own take on how to mix these features in, and that's where all the fun of it lies. And a certain amount of compromise is on par for the range too; they don't come with great internal processors - that means that you don't get instant action when you press down the shutter button; you also get a certain amount of grain, shooting in low light. But people with a general interest in photography who are on the lookout for the best digital camera prices out there do not really have gripes like these. They want the best photography experience for their buck, and do they get it!

For about the same price you can get a Sony Cyber-Shot W290, which Cnet recently reviewed and said was "an excellent, well-balanced compact camera." For a little more you can buy a Samsung Dual View TL225 which has a front LCD screen that makes it easy for you to get into the picture. It also has a huge 3.5 inch LCD touch screen on the back. It automatically adjusts the itself to take the best possible picture for the lighting conditions. You can even turn off all the automatic adjustments if you want, to control the picture manually. The controls are on the back touch screen and are really easy to use. The picture quality is great also. How about the Panasonic Lumix ZS3. It also has a great price and is also a High Definition camcorder. It even has a dedicated record button for video, takes stunning HD video footage and has great sound. It was recently followed by the even more feature packed ZS7 which features GPS as well as many other features.

Of all the cameras out there, the Lumix certainly gives you the best bang for your buck; the Samsung has a great user interface and great picture quality, and the Fuji F70EXR has great lowlight photography. For the best digital camera prices like these will bring you, you get to choose. It's a toss up between these three.

Digital Photography - A Review of the User Friendly Nikon D3100 DSLR Digital Camera

By Jim Howser

It was once thought that most casual users of digital cameras would find DSLR cameras out of their league or just something they had little to no use for. A cheaper SLR was more than suited to their needs and the less they had to spend, the better. Still, the limitations of the lower cost, but consumer friendly models are apparent to anyone who has used them. Unless you luck out with a decent model or chances are you'll suffer from a lower quality digital camera that will just disappoint you.

Nikon hopes to change the minds of people that obtain digital cameras with the new D3100. Basically, they're betting and hoping people will pay a higher price for a camera that's high quality and simple to use. They are relying heavily on the HD video choice to drive sales as well as the 14.2 megapixels. A camera can look great but that never matters. It's how well it functions and what it does that mean anything in the long run. I've seen and used cameras that looked great but when it came to performing, they were terrible.

It seems that every tech enthusiast needs to own the latest gadget on the market the second it comes it out. They always hope it will live up to their expectations. The iPhone 4 is a great example of this. So many people went out any bought it and got all the problems that came along with it Were people thinking about potential problems with the device? No, of course they weren't. A couple things are proven here. People will shell out money for the best and people are impulsive.

I would say the D3100 is a great camera for those who would consider themselves an amateur photographer. I'm certainly not a professional photographer and I had no problems recording videos or taking pictures. Whether it's a good camera for professional photographers isn't something I personally can say. As an amateur photographer I am more than happy with the D3100.

The price tag might be a bit much for some people and is certainly the major limitation of the camera. If you're not someone who is a stickler for the highest possible quality then this isn't the camera for you. If you are the type who wants to take pictures in many different conditions and under many different circumstances then this may be a worthwhile investment for you.

Equipments Needed For Digital Photography

By David James

You might want to consider using digital photography to make some extra money. Digital photography is one of the world's fastest growing hobbies. With a little know-how and some creativity, you can turn your hobby into a money-making business. Actually, there are several ways that you can make some extra money with your digital camera.

All it takes is a little imagination, a flair for showmanship, a bit of salesmanship and the willingness to do some work - and you are set.

If you are already involved with digital photography then there is a good chance that you already have all of the equipment that is needed to start. You will need a digital camera, ideally with features equivalent to an SLR film camera, a tripod or two for certain picture-taking occasions and a printer capable of printing excellent quality photographs, or a printing service.

You will also need good digital photo editing software. Adobe products like Photoshop CS3, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0, and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom are among the best digital image editing software applications on the market, along with Corel Paint Shop Pro X.

You might want to invest a few hundred dollars in these programs if you want to get off to an excellent start.

Before we move on, this is a good time to clear up one misconception. It is not impossible to make a good income from your photography, as many people think. They explain that almost every person has a digital camera or a camera phone. I can hear you saying, "Why would people pay for pictures when they can take their own?"

It's this way. The fact of the matter is that everyone has some sort of camera. But how competent are they at using it?

Take a look at the pictures many people take. Not everyone has creativity, showmanship, or skill. These pictures suck. Motion blur from holding the camera incorrectly. Poor color. Awkwardly posed subjects. No composition skills. They do not know how to avoid things like shadows over their subjects faces. Even those people that know how to use photo editing software may need help when it comes to taking amazing pictures. You can only do so much with correcting a bad photograph.

And what do you suppose happens when these people try to print their photos? I am sure you have seen photos like this. The prints have poor resolution. This happens when the photographer had no idea how to adjust the camera settings to produce printable photos.

This is where you come in. With your excellent digital photography skills, you can easily show prospective customers a few samples that will get them signing on the dotted line.

Don't think this is likely? Let me tell you about a birthday party I attended recently. The host paid an amateur photograph who wanted to start their own business just like you.

Almost everyone at the party brought their own digital cameras - but once the party got rolling, who remembered to take pictures? And those shots that we did take were unplanned and poorly positioned.

Of course, the photographer was paid for her services. A couple of days later, the photographer posted the photos on a web site. People that went to the party got the link to the pictures through email. Guests could then download, print, or save to disk any photos they wanted.

The photograph did not even have to print or develop the photos and they were paid for their services as well.

How cool is that? You can do this too. All you need to do is make a marketing plan and develop your picture taking skills and say cheese!

Digital Cameras Explained

By Oscar Gilman

Digital camera devices are just one of the major compact devices that are making their ways towards the average consumer homes because they are highly affordable and the more expensive models are very rich in features. Dozens of companies are highly competitive in this industry compared to the times when film photography was the norm. Even mobile phone manufacturers are making quality phones that have many features that actually compare with the entry-level compact cameras while DSLR cameras reign on the quality side. But the best functional digital cameras combine digital technology with advanced optics so those companies that have been heavily active in the film industry get an advantage.

Every modern digital camera contains a built-in computer that electronically records the image and stores it in its internal or external memory depending on the model. The actual process of capturing an image is quite similar from the traditional cameras because the digital camera uses a series of lenses to create the image by focusing light on the subject. What makes digital photography so different is the way the light is actually focused. Rather than using film, a semiconductor device is used instead. The built-in computer then breaks down the information into readable digital data after the sensor converts the light into electrical charges.

The sensor works differently as well with the key role to convert the light into electrical charges. This process often consumes a significant amount of power especially if the sensor is a CCD (Charged Couple Device) for best image quality. Those that want to conserve power can try the digital camera equipped with a CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor instead.

Another key difference lies on the digital camera's primary specification which is the megapixel count. Pixels are elements of digital images that build up the picture so generally the more pixels, the finer the image and the better it comes out when printing then image on larger media. Advertisers often hype this specification because more is generally better but most consumers should be satisfied with a 10-megapixel camera. The real specifications to concentrate on are the technologies being used to capture the image such as face recognition along with the interface. The algorithm that the camera uses to produce the right colors also varies.

The way digital SLR cameras work is similar but the main difference is the extra step in attaching the desired lens to get a certain effect when each picture is taken. These types of cameras have much larger image sensors and more sophisticated electronics to contribute to their higher image quality and improved color accuracy, contrast, and brightness.

All these technologies found in digital cameras successfully match the quality with film quality. But digital cameras go beyond that by providing small displays that serve as the interface and viewfinder alternative. Plus there are many other nifty extras in the best digital camera models ranging from blur reduction to smile detection. Digital cameras continue to evolve each year while their general functions remain the same.

The Best Point and Shoot Digital Camera List

By Alfonso Camera

I had been looking for the best point and shoot digital camera, and I know I found it. It offers all the qualities that make a point and shoot great - hdr, etc etc. The camera I will to point out to you to is a slightly better, all-in-all, than my previous point and shoot digital camera, which is also absolutely fantastic, and I'll teach you about that one as well, as it also has many fantastic features.

Usually, when traveling, considerations that don't matter as much with DSLR such as size and weight become more important when deciding on the best point and shoot camera. Other requirements for me have been items like optical zoom, since those make it easy to capture such a wide range of photos - from wide angle panoramic to close ups of the late afternoon sky, when the sky is dripping in all the colors that show up upon zooming on particular areas.

Are you ready to hear about the best point and shoot cameras, as I deem them? Ok then. There are two models that are close competitors. The Sony Cyber-shot HX5 and, very closely behind , the Panasonic Lumix ZS7. They usual cost around $219-$349, but I'll show you where you can buy them at a discount, and with important extras included, and with free or low-cost shipping. But before doing this, let's mention what makes these digital cameras are the best point and shoots.

What is really cool about the Sony Cyber-shot HX5 is that you don't have to make any tradeoffs in terms of features. It pretty muchis an all-in-wonder. Besides the features mentioned already, it has a 25mm wide angle lens (that let's you capture images where everything squeezes into the window), has GPS (so you know where you snappedevery photo), and a novel awesome panoramic sweep mode .

The Panasonic Lumix, on the other hand, has GPS, noise reduction, image-stabilization features that , and in some cases are superior to the Sony Cyber-shot HX5.

I can't tell you which camera to get, because they are each the best point and shoot digital camera. The decisive factor might be the cost and the importance of low size and weight. If you don't mind spending a little more for a lighter, smaller-body, slightly more advanced camera, go for the Sony Cyber-shot.

The Advantages Of Purchasing A Digital Photo Scanner

By Sandra Croft

Back in the day when printed photos were the only option, it was very hard to share them with family and friends; unless you could carry them everywhere. The introduction of the digital photo scanner has helped reverse this. This scanner helps the paper photos into digital prints, which can be easily shared especially online. You will also have different copies of the same photo without spending more money.

One of the great things about the scanners is their relative ease of use. They are also equipped with great features such as loading trays, which eliminates the need to load individual photos when scanning. The current models can hold up to 100 photos at once. With such a feature, the scanner is great for a person who is just starting to save photos in a computer.

In the event that your photos are damaged or lost, the fact that you have already saved them in digital format on your computer will allow you to print them out again in the comfort of your home, all thanks to the digital photo scanner.

As earlier stated, it is now easier to share your photos with friends and family without a need to print them out. Unlike before when one would have to pay to have photos scanned onto a disk, you can now handle it in your home or office. This way you minimize any risks of your photos being abused.

With the photos in digital format, uploading them to social networks, websites and blogs is not hard which gives access to many other people. This can help keep your treasured memories, albeit from some time back alive.

The digital photo scanner is an indispensable tool which is a must for anyone who enjoys taking photographs and sharing them online. The cost of this item has fallen drastically in recent times and can easily fit into your budget.

Improve Your Portrait Photography

By Jeremy Preston

Compact cameras have improved to such a degree that it is now possible to to produce portrait photographs that look as though they have been taken by a professonal photographer using far more expensive cameras.

Portrait photography differs from landscape and scenery photography mainly due to the human factor. Capturing the essence of the person or the pose can be extremely difficult. If you approach the subject the way a more experienced photographer would, you will notice a definite improvement in your results.

It is very important to ensure that the subject is the main focus of attention, so spend some time organising the surroundings to ensure that this is the case. I have seen many photos that would have been perfect but for a random item that draws your attention away from the subject.

Always remember that a portrait can be anything from a full body shot to a close-up facial shot. Whichever you choose it is vital for the sitter to be comfortable and natural. Simply staring into the camera's lens will most likely result in something resembling a mugshot or a wanted poster. You will get far more pleasing results if the finished photo tells a story of some kind. A child drawing or playing with a favourite toy, glancing up at the right moment creates a spell-binding impression.

Perspective can make a vast difference to the outcome. Rather than shooting from eye-level, try laying down and taking an up-shot to create a different perspective. The same shot taken from above will produce an entirely different look. Simarlarly, shooting from the side will alter the image and being mobile allows you to be creative without disturbing the sitter. The portrait mode on your digital camera will let more light into the camera to create a shallow depth of field by slowing down the shutter speed. This will help to ensure your subject is the main focus of attention.

One of the most important factors in portrait photography is lighting. Wherever possible, natural light sources will provide the best results but nature often needs a helping hand. If you do not have access to professional lighting equipment it is possible to experiment with ready to hand equipment which can be cheaply adapted to deflect the light just by using cardbord etc. The built-in flash on a compact camera can sometimes give harsh results and should be avoided if possible.

The main thing is to keep experimenting. You can shoot the background before involving your model to get a better idea of how you want the image to look, without the subject becoming bored. The beauty of digital photography is being able to review your results instantly and make adjustments as you go.

Some Good Reasons To Have A Digital Camera

By Sandra Croft

Many people think of a digital camera as being something to take pictures with of holiday events with family, but it could be of good use for many other reasons to capture the moment. A photo of personal property can prove it existed, and certain events can be kept for other purposes. Here are a few ideas of other uses for your photographic device.

When it is necessary to take something apart to fix it, taking a picture of it before you dismantle it can help you remember where each piece is supposed to go when you try to put it back together. You can do this at each stage of your efforts so that you can see each part in relation to the other ones. Then start at the last part you took out and go in reverse order according to the pictures.

Comedians tell jokes about airlines and how they lose luggage. When you have to take a flight somewhere, make pictures of your luggage so that the name tag information and the whole bag are clearly visible in the photo. This way, even if you are somewhere that you don't speak their language, you can show them a picture of it and assist in finding your suitcases. It could be a good idea to take photos of all your carry on items as well, just in case they were to go missing.

Paper documents are something that many people keep telling themselves they are going to get around to scanning into their computer. Most of the reason they haven't succeeded is that scanning can still be time consuming. However, with an electronic device that takes pictures, it is possible to photograph the documents, while they are being saved to a SD card. It can also be handy to take a quick copy of a contract for someone else.

Emergency situations can cause a lot of commotion and confusion, and many people are too busy trying to absorb what just happened to remember that they have a way to capture it on film. If you can think to take a picture immediately after a car wreck, whether you were involved or not, the photo could put to rest what caused the wreck.

Most people are interested in making money, and your digital camera can help you there. Some websites on the Internet let you open an account where you can upload digital content for others to buy the rights to use on their websites, or printing. Just about anything you can think of can be of possible interest to someone else, and by having your interesting shots where they can find them, could make you some extra money.

Using Digital Photography To Make Money

By David James

You might want to consider using digital photography to make some extra money. The fact of the matter is that digital photography is the fastest growing hobby. With a little know-how and some creativity, you can turn your hobby into a money-making business. There are several different ways that you can use your camera to make money.

All it takes is a little imagination, a flair for showmanship, a bit of salesmanship and the willingness to do some work - and you are set.

Odds are that you already own the equipment needed to begin, if you already enjoy digital photography as a hobby. The first thing that you are going to need for this is a digital camera with features similar to those of a SLR film camera, along with a tripod for some occasions. You will also need an excellent printer or printing service.

You will also need good digital photo editing software. The best known applications include Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Photoshop Light room, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Corel Paint Shop Pro X

Investing a few hundred dollars in marketing materials will get you off to a good start.

Now, we should discuss a common misconception before going any further. Many people think that it is not possible to make money taking pictures this day. They point out that almost everyone has a digital camera or at least a camera phone. I can hear you saying, "Why would people pay for pictures when they can take their own?"

You can do it this way. The fact of the matter is that everyone has some sort of camera. But how competent are they at using it?

You might want to take a look at how many pictures individuals take. Let's be honest. There is more to photography that point and shoot. There are usually motion blur pictures from holding the camera the wrong way. Poor color. Awkwardly posed subjects. Basically, they do not possess composition skills. Dark shadows obscuring a subject's face. Even those people that know how to use photo editing software may need help when it comes to taking amazing pictures. There is only so much you can do to correct a poor photograph.

And what do you suppose happens when these people try to print their photos? Undoubtedly, you've seen some of these images. The prints have poor resolution. This happens when the photographer had no idea how to adjust the camera settings to produce printable photos.

This is where you come in. Use your extensive digital photography skills to work up a few samples that you can show to potential customers and reel them in.

Are you still apprehensive? Recently, I attended a friend's birthday party. The host paid an amateur photograph who wanted to start their own business just like you.

Almost everyone at the party brought their own digital cameras - but once the party got rolling, who remembered to take pictures? And those shots that we did take were unplanned and poorly positioned.

The photographer received payment for her services. A couple of days later, the photographer posted the photos on a web site. People that went to the party got the link to the pictures through email. We downloaded the photos we wanted and printed them or saved them to our computer.

The photographer didn't even have the expense and work of printing and delivering photos - but was paid generously for her services.

How cool is that? You could to it, huh? Develop your photography skills, get a marketing plan and say Cheese!

Digital Cameras - Choosing the Best Printers, Lenses and Filters For Digital Photography

By Jim Howser

Just having a camera is not going to get you the best pictures. Most of us who take photos are amateurs in the art world, but with the right equipment our photography can be elevated to a new height. Lenses are important especially when you settle on a medium you will train in. Most photographers choose one area of photography to specialize in.

What, indeed, does the term "best" mean when you are selecting a digital photography printer? As with most of things in this life, the term "best" is relative. Many people actually try to choose the best digital photography printer based on the cost. Of course, most people will claim that quality is expensive. Hence, the most expensive thing on the store must have the highest quality. Others define "best" as being the cheapest. They believe that if they find the lowest-priced digital photography printer available, they would have found the best product for them.

While you can take photographs several miles away with a standard lens you will not have the distinction of features in the print that you need. The standard lens is great for close up shots, such as flowers, spider webs, people, and pets. To gain more defined picture miles away you need a larger lens.

Some people go by the looks when they are choosing a digital photography printer. Because of this, many companies today hire top-notch artists and designers. People want equipment that looks good. They want to buy a digital photography printer that lets them express themselves through its sleekness and overall appearance.

Photography in the world of panorama is another way to take spectacular landscape photos. The panoramic lens allows you to widen the photograph, especially with a digital camera. If there is a mountain range or glacier that you wish to get the whole picture without pasting them together in Photoshop the panoramic lens is the best way to go.

The use of filters in photography not only allows you to have special effects in a photograph to create something new and different, but it can help enhance the shot by adding color or dampening the natural effects of light. Photography has many types of equipment that require skill and knowledge making it a wonderful hobby or profession. If you need a hobby, photography allows you to be creative.

Black and white vs colour photography

By Ruth Smith

If you enjoy taking photos then you will certainly enjoy doing different things with them once they are developed or stored on your computer. The advances in photography have enabled everyone to create amazing images using the photos that you have taken. Canvas prints look fantastic and having one of your photos placed onto it looks good in any room in your house.

Both black and white and colour photos look great and you can use both in different situations to show your work off. A unique idea for you to use both types of images is with desk calendars as you can have some of the months in colour and others in black and white. There are benefits to both different types of images and you will find that certain photos look great in one style or the other.

Black and white photos are timeless and classic and can soften a photo to make it look calmer and if using on canvas prints then this might be the better option. Black and white photos can make a modern photo look old fashioned and improve certain images. You can create black and white photos very easily with a good photo program and you can add effects to make the photos look older than they are.

Although colour prints seem standard, they can look exceptionally good if you have taken a great photo. These would be perfect to create personalised desk calendars. These make excellent gifts for friends and family. You can create these gifts easily yourself or have them professionally made for you without leaving the comfort of your home. Whatever you decide, you will know that they are personal and are a result of your great work. Your friends and family will be unobservant not to compliment you on your fantastic photography skills!

You can have canvas prints made from any photo and deciding if it should be black and white or colour may be the difficult. You have to consider where you are going to hang the print and what else will be in the room with it. Choosing whether it should be colour or black and white is a decision which needs to be taken bearing in mind the other items so that the print looks stylish and not out of place. If you have a very simple room then black and white will look better than colour which can make the room look over the top.

Whatever style you decide on it will look fantastic and make your room or desk look great; having personalised items bring your photos to life and puts them on display. If you enjoy photography then you will love people to see your work and what better way than to have it made into canvas prints and hung on the walls. It is far cheaper than buying other pieces of artwork and is far more personal.

Always Get Professional Quality Pictures With The Flagship Nikon DSLR Camera, Go To D3X Unit

By Jack Smith

Nikon has a first class reputation in the global camera market. Its digital range matches that standard. Nikon single lens reflex DSLR cameras incorporate the most advanced technologies. More masterpiece than machine, each model is a cinch to point and shoot. They produce unbelievably high-quality digital images that allow photographers to convert concepts into brilliant creations. Those wanting to get professional quality pictures with the flagship Nikon DSLR camera, do yourselves a favor and check out the D3X 24.5 megapixel model.

The Nikon flagship D3X DSLR camera is its top of the range unit aimed at professionals. The D3 is the antecedent model, initially launched during 2007. It was the original Nikon digital camera to incorporate an image sensor the same size as 35mm film, that being 24mm x 36mm. Nikon named this image sensor format the FX format to indicate full-frame. The D3X model produces high resolution using its CMOS FX-format 35.9mm x 24.0mm image sensor.

The image sensor converts an optical still image into an electric signal. It is an integral part of the digitization process. Most current day digital still cameras use either a CMOS or a charge-coupled device (CCD) image sensor. Both sensor technologies capture light and converts it into electrical signals. Each technology has its own positives and negatives and critics argue, without clear consensus, as to whether one has definite advantages over the other.

Nikon FX digital cameras are fully compatible with any Nikon lens, DX lenses. A DX lens on an FX camera does under-utilize the full performance capabilities of the FX camera. However, there may be certain times when this ensemble may provide vital flexibility to capture a rapture shot.

The flagship Nikon has a fast, accurate 51-point auto focus system that operates in four dynamic modes, including 3D focus tracking that allows precision and a razor sharpness that has to be seen to be believed.

Another handy feature with this SLR is two live view shooting modes. This capability again provides the user with added flexibility so that the vital shot is captured and not lost.

These are merely a few of the noteworthy features and advanced technologies that come with the D3X. There are many other. Novice and professional photographers alike cannot help but to get professional quality pictures with the flagship Nikon DSLR camera.

A Digital Camera Buying Guide for the Amateur Photographer

By Jim Howser

Although the major parts of the digital camera is much the same as the typical film camera, there are differences that may confuse people especially those who are making the jump from the film to digital format. It doesn't also help that digital cameras, even the most basic ones, typically have more buttons than the usual point and click film cameras. We hope that with this article, we can help you in identifying the parts of your digital camera.

How many megapixels do you really need? More advanced cameras come packed with more pixels. But before shelling out tons of money for that gazillion megapixel camera, keep in mind that there are other factors that have to be considered when buying a camera. Besides, a study showed that people, even experts, cannot see the difference between the prints of pictures taken by 5 and 10-megapixel cameras.

A slot for the storage media - while the film in a film camera is usually loaded on the back, the slot of the storage media differs from one type of digital camera to the other. The user manual can help you find where it is.

How much memory do you need? Are you the type of person who prefers to store your images on your camera instead of your computer? If that's the case, then you need to buy a memory with a larger capacity for your camera. It's also the case if you're a professional photographer using a digital SLR since cameras of this type use up more memory to store high-quality pictures.

Batteries are the lifeline of your camera - Therefore, when you buy a digital camera, you should make sure that a back up battery can be found easily just in case you run out of juice (which always happens when you least expect it). You should consider buying rechargeable batteries since they save a lot of money than buying the single-use variety.

Digital Photography and Weddings - Using Digital Cameras For Wedding Pictorials

By Jim Howser

When people get sentimental, they usually flip albums and look at the pictures that depict the things that happened in their lives. These pictures are not simply pieces of colored papers with images for they can trigger deeply-seated emotions. Emotions vary depending on the memories attached to these images seen and preserved.

For this reason, people even decide to hire professional photographers to capture the important moments of their lives. However, these photographers may not always advise the client to strike a pose. They are expected to wait patiently to be able to catch memorable portraits. Most photographers that are employed for weddings have assistants so that they can maximize their strategy in creating an album that will not regrettable.

If you want to take a picture of a couple or any intended target, make sure that the background is good and the environment is not so crowded. If there is a nice background but it is hard to focus on the couple, you may shoot them from shoulder up. If some of the guests are wearing glasses, they can be advised to stand tilt their heads a little down or sideways to avoid the glaring effect that normally appears when the flash is used.

Glasses tend to cause reflections in photos. May it be an eyeglass, window or wine glasses. One way or another, they will cause a reflection or brightness to reflect back on the camera it is included in the picture. To avoid this, the position of the camera can be altered so that it will not directly hit the glass. The photo can be taken sideways or downwards but never on eye level.

You should be alert at all times since you can seldom ask individuals to pose again for you. Your digital camera should be equipped with appropriate memory cards or sticks to ensure that no great moment is missed.

Keep a copy of your best works so you can use and reuse the techniques that made your viewers smile and appreciate your creation more. You can do this by saving albums on your personal computer to free up the space in your memory card. You may also use other software to enhance the quality of the prints to be made. Photography is truly a wonderful art. Wedding is a wonderful event. The union of these things will trigger emotions and memories in the long run more so if images are captured and preserved well. They all depend on your camera and your love for this art and the couple.

How to create the perfect photograph

By Ruth Smith

Photography is an interesting hobby. Many people enjoy capturing special moments in their lives, but few realise the dedication that the interest requires in order to be good. Looking at many canvas prints, you will see that those who have devoted time and practice to the activity have had the most success with creating the perfect photo.

It is a good idea to have suitable equipment that will help you take the perfect photo. The latest and greatest in photography is not necessary, but you will need something more than a cheap disposable camera. Read reviews and take the time to research so that you find the proper camera and lenses to suit your needs.

Understand that practice will enable you to create great shots. Picking up a camera and pointing it at your subject will not make you an expert in photography. You must first experiment with different lighting, locations, positions, and subjects. It can take several months before you learn how to take photos properly. Being creative, even though some find it comes naturally, will still need a little doing on your part in order to perfect it. Look over photos that others have taken to get an idea of what direction you wish to go.

Taking a photography course can help you learn to take a perfect photo at a faster pace. This is not guaranteed, as it will still be up to you to use what you have learnt and put it into practice. However, it can present you with the proper knowledge that you need to be a successful photographer. Finding a class in your area that is taught by someone with years of experience is recommended, as you learn better from a person who actually knows rather than someone trying to teach from a textbook. Teachers can access prints that will show you exactly how to create the perfect photos. You can use free photo prints to try out your photos.

Developing special techniques that you are comfortable with using will allow you to create the perfect photo. These may not come to you at first. However, over time, you will begin to see what works best in certain circumstances, and plan your photo shoots accordingly. Lighting, angles, lines, and frames should all be taken into account when choosing the proper techniques to use at a given location. Also, knowing how to correctly place your subject and which shutter speed to use will be beneficial for a good picture.

As you continue to learn photography, your will be able to add your own individual creativity and personal touch to the photos you take. Adding your own style will create a memory that most others will not be able to capture in the same way. Experimenting with your subject and surroundings is the most effective ways to learn how to properly implement you own creativity in a photo.

Presentation of the photos after you have taken them can also help to heighten their beauty. Canvas prints are a beautiful way to show off your work. These will also help to make the photograph appear professionally done.

Computer Uploading After Scanning Digital Photos

By Sandra Croft

Scanning digital photos for uploading onto a computer can be quite easy. Whenever a scanning machine is used this picks up an image of a photo or something else and sends it by way of the USB port to the computer, this can also be done using wireless technology.

When using a scanner it is just like using a copy machine, except that these machines can create some great colors and an image on a computer screen that can have many things done to it via different programs on the PC, especially where these have been installed.

The computer will need to be loaded with the software that comes with the machine, before photos can be scanned. The PC cannot do anything until it registers the device, because it will not have the faintest idea what is expected of it. When this is done the computer and scanner will work together without problems. Making sure that both are compatible is very important otherwise problems will arise.

The scanned photos may be slightly different to the original, and this may be in the color and quality which is printed out. These problems can occur in the different types of inks used or the various brands of photo paper. Another thing that may effect the final printout image can be the types of photo paper used.

Photo paper with a gloss will give a shiny, reflective finish, while the paper that is semi gloss is still glossy and reflective but more toned down. The paper with the matte finish can be dull and flat looking, but each one has their uses and this needs to be decided before doing the finished product.

Scanners are simply a transporter that picks up an image and passes it on to the PC, where the image, once received can have many things done to it providing the computer is loaded with the software that is needed for any of these processes. The picture can become a desktop image, it can be manipulated in various ways or uploaded onto the internet or whatever a person wants to do with it.

Best Information On Digital Photography

By Sandra Croft

Many people have purchased digital cameras in the past few years and are looking at improving their digital photography. This is something that can be done by understanding a few things about the technology and the camera they may have. The best thing to remember is that taking many shots of the same image is fine and is a great way to go.

A memory card upgrade is something that an individual will need to do early on when owning a digital camera. This memory card should hold a good amount of photos taken at the highest resolution the camera will capture them in. By having this ability someone will not worry about running out of space when taking pictures.

Another important factor to consider is that with a digital camera there is no film that is being wasted by taking extra shots of a scene so feel free to take many shots from different angles. By doing this someone is maximizing the opportunity that the lighting or angle difference can play a big part in a normal picture becoming a great picture.

Learning how to properly frame a scene is always important as well. It is very important to have the focal point of the picture be a bit off center. That way the picture will develop its own balance. If it is possible it would be nice to have something in the foreground of the shot as well. Make sure not to clutter the frame or block the focal point of the picture with the foreground scenery.

Taking the time to pick out the appropriate accessories will help make for a better digital photography experience. A camera bag to carry extra accessories is good to have. If the camera takes a lens kit it would be good to try one out and see the different pictures that can be captured. Also, a tripod is important for any photo that the camera needs to be held steady for.

A person can do many different things to improve their digital photography. Experiment with different light and lenses if possible to find what works best for each image.

History of photography

By Ruth Smith

Many people enjoy the art of photography, be it taking photos themselves or looking at other people's work. Once you have the photo then you can transform it into many decorative items such as canvas prints and photo gifts. These unique gifts are excellent for you to share your memories with family and friends. Although photography has been around for centuries it has come on so fast in the last few years.

The earliest photographic image was produced in 1826 by a French inventor, Nicphore Nipce. He produced the image by capturing them on a pewter plate which as covered in petroleum. It was then covered in bitumen which hardens when exposed to the light the material which is still soft can be easily washed away. The metal was then polished to produce a stamp and then ink was applied and the impression was placed onto a piece of paper.

The inventor then continued to experiment and over the years produced many different types of photography plates. All of them worked and was the origin of the amazing photography we have today. Over the years the improvements in photography were amazing and the technology advanced greatly.

Although colour photography was slower to come and different techniques were explored through the 19th century. Eventually the technology was advanced enough and colour images were available to be seen by people. In 1986 Kodak produced the first mega pixel camera which allowed people to have a clearer picture. These images could then be altered and changed to allow more things to be achieved with the image.

Nowadays, photo gifts can be produced with ease and numerous items can have photos placed on them. You could have your family photos and photos of your favourite areas made into canvas prints, personalised calendars or even printed on T-Shirts.

Photography is often classed as one of the most amazing inventions that have happened over the years. It has enabled people to capture memories and moments for life and use them in whatever way you want.

The demand for cameras and different, more advanced, forms of taking photos has increased and now numerous companies produce cameras. What one you choose will depend on your taste and budget and you will need to understand what you want to achieve with your photos.

Using Digital Photo Editing Software

By Sandra Croft

In order to dress up a photograph in the pre-digital age, people often made paper cutouts and layered them over the photos. Enlarging an image required the help of a photo shop and negatives. But now that digital cameras and scanning systems for older photos are quite widespread, all of these can be accomplished by one relatively cheap piece of digital photo editing software.

A lot of people have access to editing software because a free disk or download came with their computer, printer, scanner, camera, or other peripheral. These may be basic versions, which are sometimes fine and sometimes problematic. The ones that are fine are simply less fully-featured than the paid versions, while the ones that are problematic lock you out of the program after a given number of days or uses.

Free editing software is available, but does not have as many functions as paid software, and probably does not have comprehensive support. If you only want to do a little bit of tweaking, or if you're just curious about the subject, free is probably fine. If you want to edit a lot of photos, or have some particular way in which you want to edit them, you might want to buy editing software. It's usually not very expensive.

The things that you can do with editing software are nearly endless. Certain high-end software has the ability to merge one photo with another almost seamlessly, allowing you to do things like make one composite photo from the differing best shots of people. A lot of less than honest advertisers use photo editing software to place one person's head on another's body, or change the image in some other way.

Borders are a common option in editing software. These borders can be fancy or silly, and are perfect for creating holiday cards and other pieces of art that include your photo or photos. Printing the images together as one can help prevent damage to your creation. Tools for cropping, rotating, and increasing and decreasing color hues are also common.

Everyone with a computer should at least take the time to play with some digital photo editing software. It's fun and educational, and can give you lots of great ideas about ways to make creative art out of your photographs.

Love That Aquapac iPhone

By Craig Tims

You apparently have got your whole life kept in the iPhone. Your friends', officemates' and family members' numbers as well as data files are there. It's your email, your digital camera and your personal assistant, all in one. It also carries a name! Using the practicality and versatility iPhone offers, many people could not afford to lose theirs. The iPhone is among the most commonly used phones in America. You bring it with you to get the job done, while you are having coffee, you place it in your bedside table while you go to sleep and make use of it being an alarm clock. You carry it to the restroom just in case it rings; you simply can't leave it behind whilst going for a bath and even in the middle of a storm, literally.

Though, when you announce your iPhone as your best friend, you should understand the risks involved with this brand new friendship. One cannot merely tote around their own brand spanking new iPhone without requiring even a slither of safety. This is a recipe for catastrophe. Water and iPhone is not a great combination after all. You say absolutely nothing will ever happen to your precious phone because you would be guarding it with your life. But that's the reason there are things like mishaps and Mother Nature's wrath.

Aquapac iPhone gives exactly that. Rainfall isn't a worry if you could have an Aquapac. Featuring its airtight case material, you possibly can contact while in the shower or if you are away in the rain. And if you think that you'll not hear a thing with all of that cover in the way, tests show that there are no modifications in volume. Additionally, you would certainly not be lost as the GPS is not influenced.

Taking photographs underwater is also possible using the Aquapac iPhone. It's capable to be submerged for 15 feet underwater. The Aquapac iPhone has a LENZFLEX windowpane which enables you to definitely get photos around wet surroundings without worrying it can ruin the system of your phone. Once you accidentally drop it forever to be lost at Davy Jones' locker, it will float at the surface area so that you can get safely.

You need not worry about revealing the case out on a sunny day, because it is UV-stabilized; Thermoplastic Polyurethane would not dissolve or lose its shade to sunshine. Not only does the Aquapac safeguard your iPhone from liquid; it also keeps dust and sand out of your phone. It may be tough to slide your iPhone in and out because of its stickiness however it would not hinder the phone in any way and the stickiness would wear off with use. In addition to that, because of its spacious interior, you can also pack in your wallet, keys and camera together with your iPhone.

Finding The Best DSLR Fit For You

By Ruth Smith

A DSLR camera is a digital single reflex lens reflex camera. This means that it uses a mechanical mirror system to direct light using prisms from the lens to the optical viewfinder. DSLR cameras provide accurate previews of framing prior to exposure and they also have interchangeable lenses. There are several reasons why you would want to upgrade to a DSLR camera.

For starters, the image sensors in DSLR cameras are large, which allows for them to output larger pixel sizes. DSLR cameras are also very adaptable thanks to their ability to take on interchangeable lenses. They're also a lot faster than point and shoot digital cameras when it comes to things like start up. Their optical viewfinders are "what you see is what you get".

DSLRs are also upgraded more slowly than point and shoot digital cameras, which lends to their retaining value.

Finally, DSLR lenses are very superior in their optics and high end lenses have a lot of time and care put in to their care. I highly recommend that anyone purchasing a DSLR lens go for the most expensive lens they can afford. It really pays off in the long run.

Beginners have a little to consider before they buy their first DSLR camera:

- First of all, they need to consider the price of not just the camera but also the supplies they will need: lenses, batteries, memory cards, a camera bag, filters, and (optional) an extended warranty.

- Next they will want to consider what its usage will be. What kind of photography do you want to do? It will help you figure out what kind of camera and accessories you'll need.

- Size is another important thing to consider as you will not want a heavier model if you plan on travelling a lot with your camera. Check to see if a potential model will take your already owned lenses and memory cards - you will find that many of them do.

- Camera resolution is another important thing to consider, as you will want more megapixels for larger photographs. As with any electronic device, future upgrades need to be considered. Will you be able to upgrade this camera?

There are other optional features that you may want to consider getting on your camera. Burst mode allows you take a series of photographs rapidly, which is great for action photography. Anti shake technology strives to maintain the sharpness of the image despite the camera being slightly shook while in your hands.

Dust protection prevents dust from getting on the lenses.

Finally, semi-auto modes provide the convenience of a point and shoot camera with settings such as "portrait & sports" and "night".

Once you've chosen your camera home and taken your pictures, you'll probably want to do something special with them. I really like make a canvas prints to hang in your house or personalised calendars that you can take to the office. The canvas prints come in several grades of canvas and a wide array of sizes to suit your taste. The calendars are surprisingly easy to create and also come in a wide variety of types, including poster calendars and two sided calendars. You might want these items for yourself or you might want to use them as gifts, whatever the use, they are great personal items.
